Happy New Year!
Euch allen ein gesundes und glückliches neues Jahr!
Nach Weihnachten habe ich nun auch Silvester hier im Park verbracht. Da ich ein ganzes Haus für mich alleine habe, habe ich diesmal die kleine Gemeinschaft zu mir eingeladen. Außerdem musste ja noch der 9 kg-Truthahn weg! Partys sind hier meist ein "potluck", das heißt jeder bringt etwas zu essen mit. Ich finde das eigentlich ganz schön, denn so musste ich mich als Gastgeberin "nur" um den Truthahn kümmern und das Ganze war recht stressfrei.

In addition to Christmas I've also spent New Year´s Eve in the park this year. Since I have a whole house for myself I decided to host the party. And we had to start eating the 20 pound/9kg turkey! Usually we have a potluck here, meaning that everybody brings a dish. I actually like the idea because then I as a host "just" had to take care of the turkey what means of course less stress for me.

| Es gab noch selbstgemachtes Brot, selbstgemachte Truthahnsoße, blaue Mais-Tortilla Chips, Nudelsalat mit Cranberries und zum Nachtisch super leckeren Chocolate-Cream Cheese Kuchen - We had homemade bread, homemade turkey gravy, blue corn tortilla chips, pasta salad with cranberries and for dessert an awesome Chocolate-Cream Cheese cake. |

| Gute Getränke dürfen natürlich auch nicht fehlen, Sugar House New Make Whiskey aus Salt Lake City (hatte ich während einer Verkostung gekauft), Fireball Zimt Whisky und meine 1,75 Liter Tequila Flasche muss auch mal langsam alle werden! - Of course we needed some good drinks, Sugar House New Make Whiskey from Salt Lake (bought it during a tasting up there), Fireball Cinnamon Whisky and I have to finish up my 1,75 l Tequila bottle soon! |

| Der "main-turkey" sah dann so aus, Gabel steckt noch symbolisch drin, weil wir alle noch dran rum genascht haben. Nun habe ich für die nächsten Wochen noch gut was zu essen! - The "main-turkey" looked like this afterwards, the symbolic fork is still in there, since we all nibbled on it the whole time. So now I have nice food for the next weeks! |

| Wir haben es uns dann alle auf den Sofas gemütlich gemacht, vollgestopft! Christy und Chris, rechts im Bild, ziehen leider in ein paar Tagen weg und haben eine Box mit alten Sachen mitgebracht, darunter eine Frisbee-Scheibe, die wurde dann natürlich à la Wilhelm Tell mit Bierdosen ausgetestet :-D - We all went to the cosy sofas then, full with good food! Christy and Chris, to the right, are moving soon and brought a box with give-aways, among was a frisbee, which of course had to be tested with beer cans à la Wilhelm Tell :-D |

Es folgten unzählige sehr interessante Gespräche, unter anderem darüber, wieviele Personen es braucht, eine schlafende Kuh umzuschubsen (14, wobei wir meinten, wenn es nur Law Enforcement Ranger sind, dann weniger) und dass das englische Wort hypothesis auf deutsch Hypothese heißt, was wiederum auf englisch wie hippo-taser klingt. Wie groß der hippo-taser dann wäre und ob man den in einem Rucksack transportieren muss? Vor allem wenn man damit canyoneering gehen will? Und die Kuh braucht natürlich eine große Matratze, auf die sie fallen kann und dazu muss man dann 'nen Truck zur Kuh fahren um die Matratze zu transportieren... Eventuell würden auch kleine Holzkeile helfen, die Kuh zum Fallen zu bringen. Außerdem war die Frage, wie man Brettspiele und Canyoneering miteinander verbinden könnte, denn wir wissen nicht, was Josh (im Ninja-Kostüm) lieber macht, also am besten beides kombinieren. Also das nächste Mal mit Spielbrett abseilen!

We had loads of interesting conversations, amongst others, how many people would be needed to tip a sleeping cow (14, but if it´s only Law Enforcement Rangers, less) and that the English word hypothesis is Hypothese in German, which sounds like hippo-taser in English. How big would the hippo-taser be and would you need a backpack to transport it? Especially if you need to go canyoneering with it? And the cow needs a mattress, of course, when she is tipping over and therefore you would need to drive a truck to the cow to transport the mattress... Maybe wedges would help to tip the cow over? And then the question how to combine board games and canyoneering, since we were not sure what Josh (the Ninja) likes most, so we need to combine them. So next time rapelling with a board game!
- You see, this was making us laugh so hard and I don´t remember how often we used the words cow tipping and hippo-taser during the evening.

| Teil 2, in der Garage, die Canyoneering-Profis üben erstmal Knoten :-D (das machen die überall, üüüüüberall liegen Seile rum) Eventuell werden mal neue erfunden...? - Part 2, in the garage, the Canyoneering pros are doing knots first :-D (They´re doing that everywhere, eeeeeverywhere are ropes lying around) Maybe they´ll invent some new knots...? |

| Dann geht´s los: "Around the world". Tischtennis chinesisch aber mit nur 2 Schlägern, die man schnell ablegen muss für den nächsten. - Then we played "Around the world", table tennis with only 2 rackets for everybody and you had to put the racket down for the next player. |
Übrigens, wenn nur noch 2 Spieler übrig sind, müssen die nach dem Schlag auch den Schläger ablegen und sich einmal im Kreis drehen bevor sie den nächsten Schlag machen. :-D Das Ganze endete dann in "extreme versions" mit 2 Bällen und/oder Bier in einer Hand, während des Spielens tanzen oder mit links und Bier in der rechten Hand... Oder "twist", Richtungsänderung! Oder die happy version, in der keiner raus fliegt und der Ball in jeder Lage gespielt wird, inklusive Garagentor, Fahrräder, Snowboards, Hände, Hund, Bierbüchsen.... :-D

By the way, when there are only 2 players left, they also have to put the rackets down and twist before they continue. :-D The whole thing ended in "extreme versions" with 2 balls and/or beer in your hand, or to dance while playing or playing with your weak hand and have the beer in the other... Or "twist", change of direction! Or the happy version, where nobody is out and the ball is never out and you just continue playing with the door, the bikes, snowboards, hands, the dog, beer cans... :-D

Inklusive Hund Merlin :-D - In the meantime, Joe introduced us to his new bike, premium with a hydraulic seat :-D We would all have bought it after this great show! Including dog Merlin :-D |
